I’ve expressed my opinions in the past about marketing techniques or lack thereof….. But Lisa LaMotta sums it up better then I in her post about how Marketers Just Don’t Get It……Remember when you were in grade school and you read a book that was a little too far ahead of you? You either….

  • Read the book as fast as any other book and then had to lie about or admit your lack of comprehension

  • You took months reading the book trying hard to understand it, walking away with at least a basic understanding of the concepts

The second option shows a desire for comprehension…..the first option shows you don’t care that you don’t comprehend it or you think you can fake it. Understanding your audience is more than research, it is comprehension… have to want it….you can’t fake it….and lying about your comprehension produces bad marketing, bad product development, and bad customer experiences.
