I have not had a chance yet to play with this yet…. here is why I am excited about it though:
- ESRS is software that can be installed (with EMC’s help) on your own server hardware in the ‘DMZ’
- To manage problems, ESRS connects to EMC support over a 128 bit encrypted channel
- EMC Support professionals still have to authenticate (twice to be exact) before using this channel
- Once the support pro is logged in and on your ESRS server, a connection is established with the internal equipment using EMC Remote
- Every action is logged and available to both EMC and the comany
- Once the session is over, ESRS breaks down all connections and EMC is unable to access the equipment until the next time ESRS calls them
This is a huge step forward for EMC…. no more dial-in/out to your company!!Some more details if you are interested…..
Sales/Marketing Flash Overview
btw… it’s free for all supported EMC equipment (I too was suprised to hear this…but it’s true)
